Name of the activity: English Lessons
Objectives: To teach basic english to the school's bus drivers and monitors. To be the leader in charge of the students involved in this activity.
Activity description: During these 6 CAS sessions, my group and I taught english to a group of six bus monitors and one bus driver. As the leader of the group, it was my job to plan each lesson. I followed a book specifically designed for teaching english as a second language. The lessons were focused towards teaching them basic speaking and writing skills. We tried to make them interactive by creating games such as a scavenger hunt, charades and broken telephone. These were carried out to enhance the abilities learnt, especially pronunciation of the different words and professions. The students also interviewed different teacher around school during one of the lessons, so that they could practice asking questions in english and establishing a basic conversation. The theory that was learnt in class was reviewed by the students at home through the homework packs I gave them. Each lesson, I picked the homework and corrected it, helping the students resolve any doubts they could have.
Materials:
-English as a second language books
-Board
-Markers
-Photocopies
Self- evaluation: I believe that I did a good job in directing this co-curricular. Our students learned the basics of english and if they keep practicing, they can keep progressing in the future. I believe that this activity helped me grow a lot as a person as it allowed me to explore a whole new aspect of myself. It allowed me to take the role of a teacher, and this has changed my perspective on the teacher-pupil relationship. Now I really understand how it feels to have a good student and a very disobedient one.
Reflection: This activity helped me understand what being a teacher feels like. I have been on thousands of lessons throughout high school, but always as a student. These days I understood how hard it is to teach, but also how rewarding. The happiness and pride that I felt when my students managed to learn something was something incredible. I hope I can keep developing my teaching skills. It is very rewarding to know that you are making a difference on someone else's life. It was also frustrating when the students didn't do their homework or simply didn't show up. This has helped me understand the job of my school teachers a lot better. Now I feel that I understand more about what they do and how they feel about it! I hope that improving as a teacher makes me become a better student!

44.Planning CGBMUNIV
Date: 27/09/11
Name of the activity: Planning CGBMUNIV
Objectives: To call every school to confirm the participation of the delegates.
Activity description: During this session Mc and I went to the office and started calling our 15 guests schools, particularly those who hadn't responded our invitation via e-mail, to confirm if they were going to come to the event or not. This was not very easy as some of the schools didn't even pick up and in the case thay did, it was difficult to get the teacher in charges of the MUNs on the phone. For most of them, we had to leave messages to the teachers.
Materials: Computer.
Self- evaluation: Even though we didn't get much out of calling all of the schools, it was something we had to try. I believe that I did a good job, nevertheless sometimes I felt tempted to not call any more as schools as we weren't getting confirmations from any of them. This was frustrating.
Reflection: Now understand how important it is to confirm if you are going or not to an event as soon as possible once you are invited. It makes the logistics so much easier! I believe that this service I am giving to my school, by organizing this MUN, is important in the sense that the MUN can bring many benefits to the students! And not only academic, they can get to know people from other schools and they get their minds off schoolwork for three days.

43.Planning CGBMUNIV
Date: 13/09/11
Name of the activity: Planning CGBMUNIV
Objectives: To decide the topics and commissions.
Activity description: I worked individually during this session. I decided that the MUN was going to have 6 commissions (Security Council, Disec, WHO, Ecosoc, Sochum and Unicef). I also researched and came up with two topics for each commission. I revised these topics with MC and we made some changes.
Materials: Computer.
Self- evaluation: The central part of the MUN was developed during this session. I believe the work was outstanding as the topics produced are very relevant and interesting!
Reflection: I believe that discussing relevant and interesting topics is a key part of the MUN, as if the delegates don't feel interested towards what they will be researching on, the debates probably won't be very good.
